    1. In my artical it talks about the upcoming election. It talks about how Mitt Romdey is battling for the election. This relates back to my old social studies class because when the Jackson and Adams election. It was a messed up election and this election is not perfect itself. Back when the election happend it was very shady. The artical also talked about how romdey plans on winning the election on selling his campaign and becoming our new president.

    1. I changed my article
      http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/30/federal-court-rules-against-texas-voter-id-law/
My article talks about how Texas top attorney Greg Abbott brought the point to the supreme court that he feels that photo IDs should be required to vote in the 2012 election in Texas. He brought this to the attention to the supreme court after it was rejected by a federal panel of judges. Which in the end the it had passed and became a law.
This connects to last years social studies class because it involves the election of 2012 and federal laws. which is a couple of the things that we a had gone over in last years social studies classes. Thank You

    1. My article talks about Mitt Romney and his attempt to become president of the Untied States of America.
Mitt Romney explains that his focus on the countries improvement is on the countries situation, not just trying to get in office. He states that he wished Barack Obama would have done what he said so he wouldn't have to clean up his mess in the first place. He states Obamas' statements were just popularity lines for the USA to like him but all the while Obama had shown false advertising in his words.

This is just like the decision of which plan the country would use to reconstruct the south. It seems the Lincoln plan was the perfect plan as stated until Lincoln got assassinated and another plan, the Johnson plan, was given for the country. Then when the Johnson plan was going bad, another plan came around trying to get recognition

    1. Mitt Romney accepted the Republican nomination for president on Thursday. He made this speech for the voters, but he asked this question “if you felt that excitement when you voted for Barack Obama, shouldn't you feel that way now that he's President Obama? Then he said “You know there's something wrong with the kind of job he's done as president when the best feeling you had was the day you voted for him." So he just kept on talking about Obama and what he can do and all. Well what he is saying is almost like what we are learning in class about Abraham Lincoln on what he was trying to do to help and make a better place. Lincoln wanted to make peace and keep everything together unlike the south that was getting mad at him about the freedmen. All he wanted to is to let them free and have peace but then he got killed. Abraham Lincoln was just trying to be a good man that’s all.

    1. This article was about how Paul Ryan is running as Mitt Romney’s vice president for the upcoming election. Paul Ryan is talking about his ideas for what he would do if they win and become President / Vice President. In this speech he is also criticizing President Obama. In Paul Ryan’s opinion he thinks that Obama’s hope and plan for change failed. This is like in the past when men would run for president. In the election of 1808 it was one of the biggest campaigns. He and his Vice President would go around trying to make sure everybody would vote for him and not his opponent. James Madison ended up winning a majority of the votes, (122 to 47 to be exact) because he convinced all of the states at the time that he would be better than his opponent. I feel like this is going to happen with Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan because they are showing how the promises Obama made when he because president weren’t kept and he actually did more bad than good to our country.

This webpage is about how the state of Texas declined a law for needing to have photo ID to vote. Though a lot of people wanted it to become a law the State eventually declined the law.
This is a lot like how the north wanted to ban slavery and to make not having slaves a law, but in the end the law was declined. even after many tries.

This article was about the Colorado shooting that happened in July. A man was arrested for firing a gun at a movie theater. He killed 14 people and 50 others were injured. Police suspect that there were 2 shooters. Police also state that the suspect was heavily armed and was wearing a bulletproof vest. Witnesses claim that he set off a smoking device right before the shooting occurred. An unidentified man says that people were running and screaming out of the theater. Right now they have the suspect in custody charged with murder.
An event that is similar to the Colorado shooting is the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was shot at an evening performance in a theater. John Wilkes Booth planned to kidnap Lincoln but failed. He hated Lincoln because he was for everything Booth hated. He decided to meet up with people who also wanted Lincoln dead. They are to blame for Lincoln’s death in 1865.

  12. This article is about the new law being created in a couple of states in the U.S. It states that all school nurses should be allowed to have Epi pens on hand in case of emergency. The amount of allergies in kids is slowly increasing and with that increase there has been a lot of incidents with kids eating something they are allergic to. If the kids have a reaction the only thing that can save them is epinephrine. 911 doesnt get there in time to save the kid from a reaction so this law states that nurses should be allowed to store and use Epipens in emergencies. therefore, saving kids lives.
This is a lot like other laws being passed. Like the anti slavery laws. They have to go through a lot of people and lots of research has to be done before they can passed.

  13. During this time when the economy is a challenge for everyone is a major point of 2012's election for the President. The 57th quadrennial for the United States President. Mitt Romney who is running for the Republican party and the president now Barack Obama for the Demecrats. Each are trying to get a foothold in the election by focusing on the big problem at this point...the economy. Both are trying their best to apease the people by telling them what they ant to hear for their votes.
This whole voting thing reminds me of what I learned about the fight for the presidency during the Cival War period last year. It was between Lincoln for the North, and Davis for the South. Both fought hard for the role of the president trying to help their side gain an advantage in the war. After all the fighting over the spot for president, Lincoln eventually won.
All this ties together with what is going on now between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama because they are focusing on what is important to people during this time.

  14. G:\Can we fix a hyper-partisan Congress - CNN_com.mht
In this article Mickey Edwards, a republican congressmen for 11 years, talks about how he once presented his speech from this, so called, Democrat side of the stage. It talks about the hyper-partisan nature in our Congress now, making it hard to deal with the nations problems today. This relates way back to the late 1800's prior to the Civil war when there was the issue of slavery. You were either for it or against it no compromise. Just like today there doesn't seem to be much compromise with many of the issues we are having now with Finanial and Social issues.

This artile is about the presidental election and how there could be a diffeerent change with Barack Obama. He has allready changed healthcare overhaul, and financial reform bills. It also talks about other peopple taking place in the during the election like Tim Pawlenty, and even John McCain. Later on in the article it talks about other people with alot of political experience that have a chance in running against Obama. Out of all the candidate Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are the final two. This election can relate to what we learned last year in Mrs. Hills class because during the Civil War Lincoln and Davis were battling for the presidency. Lincoln was from the north and Davis was from the south. It was a very harsh campain for both of them just like the one thats going on right now. In the end Lincoln became president and that was a good thing.

This article is about Barack Obama and his running for re-election. On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States of America. On April 4, 2011, President Obama officially announced his candidacy for re-election. Barack Obama will be running against Mitt Romney for the President of the United States. Barack Obama is the democrat running and Mitt Romney is the republican. Barack Obama faces a bad economy and will try his best to fix it. During Obama’s term in office he witnessed the United States combat forces kill Osama Bin Laden. Obama also faced a health care debate during his term, but he changed that and helped many Americans. Currently the prediction polls say that Barack Obama will win this election by three percent. We will just have to see who will come victorious in November. I can relate this to the elections we learned about in social studies class this year like Abraham Lincoln.

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/4/nhl-lockout-2012-two-weeks-canceled-in-regular-sea/

The 2012 NHL lockout is an ongoing labor dispute that began at 11:59 p.m. on September 15, 2012, following the expiration of the National Hockey League collective bargaining agreement, less than a month before to the scheduled beginning of the 2012-12 NHL season. The owners declared a lockout of the members of the National Hockey League Players’ Association after a new agreement could not be reached before their deadline. The lockout delays the start of the 2012–13 NHL season, which originally was scheduled to begin on October 11, 2012, but is now scheduled to begin on October 25, 2012. With the league and its Players’ Association far from a deal, there was no chance the NHL was going to open the regular season on Oct. 12. The NHL cancelled all September preseason games on September 19, and on September 27 the remainder of the preseason schedule through October 8 was cancelled, resulting in approximately $100 million in lost revenue. The NHL lockout reminds me of Reconstruction that we learned from class. This reminds me of reconstruction because the NHL will now have to start all over and find a contract, just like how America had to rebuild its whole country.

  26. My topic is about the debate last Monday night between President Barack Obama and governor Mitt Romney talking about foreign policy. Last’s contentious town hall-style debate in which the candidates walked around the stage and parried with each other, Obama and Romney will be seated at a table with moderator Bob Schieffer which was telling what should come out of this debate. People are watching to judge character. There not caring for what the question is all they care for is how the two candidates respond to each question. Then they stared talking about Libya. Then Romney said the president surrounding the terrorist attack that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team in Benghazi, Libya on September 11 of this year. So Romney was trying to say how President Obama led to this killing. Well this all this relates to class by the election between Lincoln and Davis, how which one would become president and who was better and all. Also it relates to class about Lincolns death.

My topic is about the 2012c election between barack obama and mitt romney. where health care is concerned both candidates care a lot about it. When the history books are written, health care reform will be at the top of the list of Obama’s accomplishments. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney says if elected, he will work to repeal the Affordable Care law, which he also calls Obamacare. When the economy is concerned both candidates care a lot also. Perhaps the issue that will make or break his re-election campaign is the economy and his handling of what many call the Great Recession. On the campaign trail, Romney frequently touts his mix of experience in the public and private sectors. this relates to the presidential elections we learned about in social studies like Abraham Lincoln and others.

He cursed at the police officers through the bars, the officers acted as if this was a nightly routine. Scenes like this are very common in south Korea. Much of this is caused by heavy drinking. About everynight this happens in police stations all over the world. Drunken men and women can be found abusing officers emotionally and verbally.
    2) This article on alcoholism relates the the alcohol problem that happened in the Progressive Era. Alcohol was a serious problem and it led to many risks. Many people began to abuse alcohol in many ways. Drunken men were found abusing women and kids. Alcohol was used in many harmful ways. It began to tear families and friends apart. Alcohol decreased the amount of time put into work and jobs. It also was used as a threat and caused much violence to others. A group called the Temperance Movement was created too band alcohol. This group was led by women who were sick and tired of being mistreated by drunk people. The finally got what they wanted, the 18th amendment was created. This amenment stated that it was illegal to sell alchol. The artcile relates to this problem because it shows how alcohol was and is abused in many ways and causes threats to other people.

  34. Barak Obama got reelected and is our new president. Obama had to do a lot of thing to do this he had go to states and convince people to vote for him because he can’t say vote for me to everybody because they probably won’t listen. First Obama has to get his team tell what he trying to do so they can get the message out to us the people because I don’t think he can the message out to everyone, his people will get it to the news, make billboards, calls, put up advertisements on TV, make signs. So his people will do their best trying to get the message out so people can vote for Obama. During this election Obama won again, with 303 electoral votes when he needs 270 to win Mitt Romney got 206 electoral votes. This relates to class by when the women during the progressive era weren’t allowed to vote. The women tried their best to vote they weren’t allowed, so they tried getting the message out that they wanted to have the right to vote. Women would put up signs let everybody know they were just trying to convince everybody to let them vote. The women went through government to so they got to vote. One day the women got there right to vote and till this day they are voting now.

-In this article, William Saletan talks about many facts about the Election of 2012. He says that many times have the candidate fought over there supporter. Sometimes helping each other accidentally such as viewers saw the actual Romney in debate 3 instead of the misrepresentation they'd been set in Obama's ads. And they saw Obama taking them for granted, because he was taking them for granted. So Romney increased ground. The elections were a big event and a lot has been changed and changed again.

-How this is similar to the election of 1900 is that there was another close election. William Jennings Bryan and Teddy Roosevelt were the candidates in this election. Many people did not like Teddy Roosevelt, just as many people don’t like president Obama. America knows what’s best for its self so that is why these presidents were chosen. Although many people disagreed with the outcome of the elections, it happened for a reason and only good can come out of it because it has happened in the past.

This article describes the advancement Iran is making in its nuclear technology. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is concerned about their development of enriched uranium which can be turned into nuclear weapons. Iran indicates they are developing uranium for “peaceful purposes” but there is credible evidence to the contrary.

The IAEA has reported Iran is not cooperating by allowing access to the facility called Parchin. They want both access to the site and specific questions answered regarding their use of uranium. Many believe this site is being used to test explosives and develop weapons. The next meeting to address these concerns will take place in December.

An imperialist would use this kind of situation as motivation to attack Iran. They would want to strike first to prevent being attacked. An isolationist would not attack because they would not want to get involved in issues that are outside their own country. It is good we have the IAEA to monitor this situation.
